The death of a language is the end of a way of looking at the world. Today, 191 languages of India are either vulnerable or endangered. In this talk, Indian languages activist Rahul Dev explains why we should be worried. Rahul Dev, a bilingual journalist, has worked both in print and TV, English and Hindi news media. He started his career with The Pioneer in Lucknow and worked for The Week, The Illustrated Weekly of India, and Probe India before switching to Hindi journalism with the Maya magazine. Since then, he has been Editor of Jansatta, the Hindi daily of the Indian Express group, Editor-in-Chief of the daily Aaj Samaj and the weekly India News. He has also headed the news channels Aaj Tak and CNEB as Editor-in-Chief and CEO. Currently, he is Honorary Adviser, Speaker’s Research Initiative (SRI) at the Lok Sabha. He is also an advisor at the Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary University and a Managing Trustee in the Samyak Foundation.
