This is the story of a young girl
Who didn’t care about climate change…
Until she came across some very real faces
behind its catastrophic impacts.

Today, she stands before you, sharing those very stories.
Prachi Shevgaonkar spent years traveling with
Waste workers, farmers, children and citizen groups
to understand the impact of climate change
in the day to day lives of people.

Inspired by these experiences,
she built an app – Cool The Globe,
to bring global citizens together
on a common goal to save the planet.

In this talk, she shares the story of
the sheer power of citizen actions.
She talks about why we should care about
how climate change impacts the lives,
what we can do to save the planet,
and how citizen actions can create
a ripple effect for transformation. Prachi Shevgaonkar is a communicator, Social Entrepreneur and the founder of an award-winning startup Cool The Globe – an app and a movement for climate action, with users from
over 55 countries. Her journey started with a simple question: ‘What can We do about Climate Change?’ From this was born Cool The Globe app to help citizens fight climate change in their day-to-day lives. Prachi is the first Indian citizen to be appointed on the advisory board of Climate Leadership Coalition alongside the prime minister of Finland and European Union Leaders. She is the youngest recipient of the prestigious Olive Crown Award for excellence in communicating
sustainability. Through Cool The Globe campaigns, Prachi has mobilized over 2 Million global citizens to tackle climate change through technology, advocacy, and grassroots action. She firmly believes that when ordinary citizens come together, miracles can happen. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx
