We Just Want To Play What It’s Like For Women In Esports : Mary Baldino : Tedxdayton

Mary was introduced to gaming by her father when she was a girl, and has turned that love into an eSports business. But she’s noticed that gender still plays a significant role in who participates in competitive gaming, who develops these games, and how players and developers are treated by the community. This doesn’t have to be, Mary suggests, as she calls out the pervasive bias and hopes for a more equitable gaming future. Mary Baldino is the owner of local esports center, Connect E-Sports. Mary works towards creating a safe space for gamers to meet and interact both online and IRL (in real life) through competitive and casual gaming. Mary is a University of Dayton alumni, and resides in Downtown Dayton with her husband.
