Professor Carly Ellman describes how we can use the power of positive affirmations and positive self talk to shape the perception of reality. Carly Ellman, MSW, LCSW, received her master’s in social work (MSW) from Fordham University and is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the states of Pennsylvania and Florida. Carly is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine(GCSOM), and was previously an assistant professor of social work at Misericordia University. At Geisinger she is the Director of the Family Centered Experience and co-leader of Interprofessional education. She has taught at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Service and Tulane University School of Social Work. Mrs. Ellman embedded service learning into all her classes and is dedicated to continuing to work together with the community in and out of the classroom. Currently, she maintains a private practice in Dallas and Ambler PA, where she specializes in working with adolescents and couples. Carly is working on her PhD in Strategic Leadership and Administrative Studies and hopes to continue her research in the area of Interprofessional Education, bioethics and experiential learning. Carly is married to her wonderful husband Joe and has two daughters Gianna 5 and Aubrey 3.
