For Nathan Zhou, "The Search" is one for excellence, and a better education for America's youth. As a math tutor during the COVID-19 pandemic, he realized that training the youth in mathematics was very similar to training the body in athletics. In his talk, he explains why the public schools must change the way they approach elementary math education. By sharing his experiences becoming both an athlete and mathematician, he shows how we all can learn to excel in what we love. Nathan Zhou is a junior at Phillips Exeter Academy (Class of '22) originally hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah. He enjoys skiing, playing lacrosse, and teaching math to students of all ages. In his talk, he discusses his experiences as an athlete and mathematician and shares lessons he believes can help anyone excel in what we love. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx
