New washing machine comes with a built-in „Artificial Intelligence“ to control the spin cycle. Whenever We wash the bedsheets in it, they are still dripping wet when it’s done.
AI promises smart assistance in the daily lives. But not only is AI often not smart, in certain situations it is scary.
It doesn't have to be that way. In this talk, We want to introduce you to some empowering perspectives on AI that We learned as a tech professional. And suggest how we can figure out together what AI we want in the future, and how to create it. Ellen König studied computer science and philosophy at the University of Potsdam and psychology and sociology at the Open University in Hagen.
Since then, she has been working in software development with a focus on data analysis and machine learning.
She currently leads the "Data Engineering" department at WhereIsMyTransport, a start-up developing applications for public transport in emerging markets.
Her focus of interest is on how we can constructively shape technological change. She also blogs on this topic at ellenkoenig.de This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx
