Thu Duong, Ph.D. comes from a family with five sisters and one brother in Khoai Chau, Hung Yen. From an ordinary student, with the desire to prove herself (girls can also do things like boys!), the author has set goals higher than anyone expected. She studied hard, overcame her fears and barriers to fulfilling her academic endeavor. Now working in the U.S., Thu shares her inspirational journey to the students in Hung Yen in order to help them overcome their own limitations to set goals to develop themselves.

At the stage of TEDxYouth@LoNoiLake, she brings tremendous power and inspiration in her talk. Thu is the founder of the Vietnam Book Drive for Kids project, core-team member of the Vietnam Book Drive project. Those projects brought thousands of donated English children’s books and textbooks from the U.S. to Vietnam. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology from the University of Science – Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City, a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, and is working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center for Advanced Retinal and Ocular Therapeutics (CAROT), University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA). With her capacity, she is the founder of Vietnam Book Drive for Kids project, part of the core-team of Vietnam Book Drive project. She holds a Bachelor of Biotechnology from the University of Natural Sciences - National University of Ho Chi Minh City, a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania and is working as a Research Student.
