Content Creators are in the midst of the ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’ – a world where robotics, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics exists in more than just the imaginations. In fact, this revolution will be a new chapter of human development which will and already has altered the way in which we live, work, and interact. Using the experience in the field of bioinformatics and scientific research, We describe the importance of adaptability in navigating the ways through the dramatic shifts that the future will bring. Whether we like it or not, technologies will improve, industries will change, and the jobs we have today might be drastically different in the future. Therefore, in order to grow, survive, and thrive – the key is to be adaptable. Arzina Jaffer is an undergraduate student researcher at the University of Calgary and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard where she is currently implementing bioinformatic techniques and using sequencing technologies to understand mechanisms underlying disease conditions. As a young scientist, Arzina aspires to collaborate across frontiers to tackle issues of injustice at the nexus of knowledge, innovation, and genomic pursuits. Arzina’s work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals and presented at conferences nationally. She is currently completing her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Calgary as a Chancellor’s Scholar with the hope to one day meaningfully aid global efforts to leverage the promise of genomic medicine while mitigating barriers to its translation. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx
